Module 4 "Artwork Analysis"
"A Huntsman and Dogs" By Winslow Homer https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Winslow_Homer_-_A_huntsman_and_dogs.jpg
This piece created by Winslow Homer is from 1891 and currently portrayed in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It is a very well executed oil on canvas that mainly uses darker colors to set a background and light colors to emphasize the focus on the main parts of the painting. This painting is of a hunter and his dogs that have ventured out into the country to go deer hunting. I love that in the background the colors used give a seemingly dark complex as to the uncertainty of the land that is being roamed by not only the hunter and his dogs but the wildlife that are as well. It gives the impression that it was a hard day and almost disappointment to think that the day was going not well for the hunter. The linework created in the front of the painting was used to define the main focus of the painting which be on the hunter and his dogs. it gives a clear transition into the details of the coats of the animals and the cut down tree which creates a front and centered focus of the art. This piece really focuses on the celebration of the loyalty and satisfaction of having a relationship with you companion where life and death are assumed and having the trust of an animal can bring about a compatible happiness. Being very simple in context but yet detailed enough to provide a brilliant visualisation of the piece as a whole I personally found this painting to be considered a classic piece of art. This specific piece makes me want to enjoy the allure of nature while connecting and furthering my relationship with my animals in a deeper manner by having them by my side. With a winning sensibility this piece provides a notion of success and perseverance through patience and hard work.

Hi, I liked that you said where the painting is currently it adds a bit of background info to the piece. I think you described the line work of the painting. The only suggestion I would make is maybe go a bit more into detail about the painting itself. I also liked that you mentioned the companionship the dogs bring.
