It is a very well executed oil on canvas that mainly uses darker colors to set a background and light colors to emphasize the focus on the main parts of the painting. This painting is of a hunter and his dogs that have ventured out into the country to go deer hunting. I love that in the background the colors used give a seemingly dark complex as to the uncertainty of the land that is being roamed by not only the hunter and his dogs but the wildlife that are as well. It gives the impression that it was a hard day and almost disappointment to think that the day was going not well for the hunter.
